Much-Anticipated N900 Now In Stock at Nokia

The Nokia N900 began shipping to a lucky few last week, but it's now listed as "in stock" on Nokia USA's website, so orders placed today for this high-end smartphone will be delivered very soon.

A few days ago, this company started shipping this device to those who were brave enough to pre-order it, but at that time was still taking pre-orders. That has changed, and Nokia is now promising that orders placed today will arrive in 1-3 days.

Other retailers are still waiting for their supplies of this high-end smartphone, though.

Patience Is a Virtue
Those who want an N900 but don't have to have it right now can save quite a bit of money on their purchase.

Nokia USA is asking $650, while other retailers have lower prices. For example, Amazon.com and Newegg.com  have it for almost $100 less: $560.

Orders placed with these companies apparently won't ship for about another a week; Newegg say it won't have the N900 until Nov. 30.

An Overview of the Nokia N900
This new smartphone has the same general shape as Nokia's earlier Internet Tablets: a slider with a large WVGA touchscreen and a landscape-oriented keyboard.

It runs a new version of Nokia's open-source Linux-based operating system, Maemo 5, on an ARM Cortex-A8 processor. It has 1 GB of application memory and OpenGL ES 2.0 graphics acceleration.

This Nokia model includes a web browser based on Mozilla technology, and full Adobe Flash 9.4 support. A version of Flash 10.1 will be released next year.

The Nokia N900 has 32 GB of storage, which is expandable up to 48 GB via a microSD card.

This mobile Internet device is a GSM phone with HSPA 3G on T-Mobile's networks. It will also have Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

In addition, it has a 5 MPx camera and Carl Zeiss optics.
