Motorola Backflip May Be AT&T's First Android Phone

AT&T is the last of the big four U.S. carriers without an Android model. But that might change soon, thanks to a Motorola smartphone with an unusual design.

According to collection of images that have leaked out, the Motorola Backflip (AKA Enzo and Motus) will have a landscape-oriented keyboard, but won't be a slider or clamshell. Instead, will have a reverse flip keyboard, so that when this model is closed its keyboard is on the back.

When the keyboard is open, the user has access to a touchpad that is on the back of the screen.

The specification list that has also leaked out shows that this smartphone will have a 3.1-inch HVGA (320 x 480) touchscreen, 5 MPx camera, and a GPS receiver.

Android... Mostly
The Backflip will supposedly run Android 1.5, but many of the standard Google apps will not be included. 

Instead it will have Motorola's Blur software, which gives easy access to consumer and business e-mail accounts, as well as social-networking services like Facebook and Twitter.

In addition, some of AT&T's services will be included, like its navigation, music, and ringtone store.

According to the latest unconfirmed report, even this Android device's default search engine won't be Google, but rather Yahoo.

Wireless Features
The Motorola Backflip will allegedly support AT&T's 3G mobile broadband, and also include Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

None of the unconfirmed reports to come out about this device so far have said when it will be released, or what it will cost.
