Apple Putting More Emphasis on the Camera in Next-Gen iPhone

The new iPhone model coming this summer will be the best so far for taking pictures, if unconfirmed reports are correct.  It will be able to take pictures at a higher resolution, and in low-light situations.

Cameras have been built into every previous iPhone, but these have been relatively low resolution. The next model will supposedly have a 5 MPx camera, up from the 3 MPx one in the current version.

Put a Little Light on the Subject
Many smartphones sport an LED flash to make photography possible in low-light areas. According to a new report, the iPhone will be joining this list.

Most LED flashes are able to make dim lighting better, but not much use in complete darkness. Apple is supposedly going to use Philips Lumileds Lighting Company as the source for its LEDs, whose products are generally regarded as above average.

Apple has generally been very good at preventing solid information about its products from leaking out well ahead of their unveiling, but that hasn't stopped the rumors from flying around the Web. However, as the next-generation iPhone isn't expected to be announced for months, all of these are questionable.

A frequently-heard report is that that Verizon Wireless will get the iPhone next year, ending AT&T's long-held role as exclusive U.S. provider of this smartphone.

It's possible the fourth-generation model will have twice the storage capacity of the current one: 64 GB.

Another unconfirmed report says this upcoming device will have a 2.8-inch display. All previous phones from Apple have had 3.5-inch touchscreens, so the company may be planning to noticeably reduce the size of this product line.
