Windows Mobile 7 has not yet been officially announced, but reports of devices running it are starting to come out.
One of the first smartphones with the next version of Microsoft's mobile operating system is reportedly going under the codename "Obsession". When it's released, though, it will supposedly be called the HTC Diamond3, and will be offer a wide array of features.
This Windows phone will be built around a 1 GHz processor, and will have a tablet shape with a 3.7-inch AM-OLED display with multi-touch support. It will reportedly resemble the HTC Imagio.
Both AT&T and T-Mobile will supposedly release versions with support for their 3G networks, and this model will include Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
According to leaked information, the Diamond3 will have 512 MB of RAM, 4 GB of internal storage, and a microSD memory card slot, potentially bringing its total storage capacity to 36 GB.
A 5 MPx camera with flash and support for recording HD 720p video at 25 frames per sec. will also be included, and so will a 1230 mAh battery.
Overall, it will supposedly be 4.4 inches tall, 2.2 inches wide, and 0.46 inches thick (112 x 56 x 11.7 mm).
Be Patient
Despite the reports that Microsoft intends to unveil it in a few weeks, the debut of Windows Mobile 7 and any smartphones running it is still many months away.
The HTC Diamond3/Obsession is allegedly scheduled for October.
What AT&T and T-Mobile intend to charge for it is something that likely won't be revealed until close to the launch date.
