Ever since the Google Nexus One debuted from T-Mobile USA users of this Android-based smartphone have been reporting problems with connecting to 3G. The companies responsible for this device say they are close to releasing a software update that should help.
Nexus One users are complaining that their phones will rapidly switch between 3G and 2.5G connections, or fail to make a 3G connection, in areas with good 3G service.
A statement posted by a Google employee on the official Nexus One support forum says:
Our engineers have uncovered specific cases for which a software fix should improve connectivity to 3G for some users. We are testing this fix now, initial results are positive, and if everything progresses as planned, we will provide an over-the-air software update to your phone in the next week or so.
However, this statement goes on to warn that this upcoming fix won't be able to perform miracles:
It may be, however, that users are experiencing problems as a result of being on the edge or outside of 3G coverage, which a product fix cannot address.
