Skype has released the 1.0 version of its Skype for Symbian VoIP application. After several months of feedback and testing, this release brings compatibility with many Symbian^1 devices, several bug fixes from the beta release, and some performance enhancements.
Skype for Symbian 1.0 features the ability to:
Video calling is not available in this release.
Skype for Symbian can use the cellular 3G connection or the device's Wi-Fi connection and has some support for hand-offs between the two wireless technologies.
Other Skype features such as forwarding, voicemail, and Skype-Out numbers are also supported.
Availability
Devices supported include the Nokia N97, N97 Mini, 5800XM, N86, N96, E71, and 5520. Samsung's Symbian devices are not currently supported.
Skype for Symbian is a free download and is available now from the Skype website.
