Apple Now Taking Pre-Orders for the iPad

The much-anticipated Apple iPad can now be pre-ordered, but this tablet computer won't actually be released for several more weeks.

Starting today, consumers can reserve or pre-order the full range of Apple's iPhone OS-based tablet computers. Prices range from $500 to $830.

The iPad has been designed to fill the gap between cellphones and notebooks, and will offer a 9.7-inch multitouch display, in a design that's just 0.5-inches thick and only 1.5 lbs.
