Video Demo of BlackBerry's Upcoming Advanced Web Browser Now Available

The web browser that is bundled with BlackBerry smartphones lags well behind the ones that are offered with competing devices, but RIM is working to remedy that. A video showing off the next browser for this operating system shows that it will be much more capable than the current one.

Last year, RIM acquired Torch Mobile for its expertise in creating highly-capable web browsers. Thanks to their expertise, an early version of the next BlackBerry browser scores a 100 on the Acid3 test. This tests for support for Cascading Style Sheets(CSS), ECMAScript, DOM Level 2, Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG), Extensible Markup Language (XML), and data URIs.

As most BlackBerrys do not have touchscreens, this demo shows that this browser will use an on-screen cursor controlled by the touchpanel below the display.
