Nokia Nuron Aimed at Budget-Conscious T-Mobile Customers

T-Mobile USA has just announced plans to release the Nokia Nuron, a Symbian smartphone with a large Touchscreen and a low price.

This model will have a tablet shape designed around its 3.2-inch, 640-by-360-pixel display. This will be a resistive touchscreen, and this device will come with a stylus.

The Nuron will run Symbian S60 5th Edition, and will include access to several of Nokia's services, most notably Ovi Maps. This is a free navigation service with turn-by-turn directions. It will come pre-loaded with with maps for the United States, Canada, and Mexico and more are available as a free download.

This model will be bundled with a suite of entertainment and communications applications. These will give users access to their personal or work e-mail, allow them to surf the Web with a very capable web browser, watch video, play music, and much more.

In addition, this smartphone will come with the Ovi Store, allowing users to shop for third-party software on their smartphone. Purchases can be charged directly to the users' monthly T-Mobile bill.

More Specs
The Nuron will have 70 MB of internal storage, and also include a microSD memory card slot for additional capacity.

This phone will have access to T-Mobile's 3G network, Bluetooth, and a GPS receiver.

Other features will include a 2.0 megapixel camera and a 1320 mAh battery.

Overall, it is going to be 4.4 inches tall,  2.0 inches wide, 0.6 inches thick, and 4.0 ounces.

Pricing and Availability
The Nokia Nuron 5230 will debut at just $70 with a two-year service agreement, qualifying voice and data plan, and after a $50.00 mail-in-rebate.

T-Mobile says this model will be on the market "in the coming weeks", but declined to be more specific.
