Nokia C5: a Smartphone That Will Emphasize the Phone

The newly-unveiled Nokia C5 is the first in the C-series. this company's upcoming line of Symbian-based smartphones targeted at consumers.

The C5 will have a candybar shape, with a small display and a numberpad. This design emphasizes making phone calls, but this device will also have advanced features like navigation software.

It is going to have a 2.2-inch display with a QVGA (320 by 240 pixel) resolution. Below this will be a D-pad and the numberpad.

This GSM phone will have 3G (HSDPA) and Bluetooth

Consumer Friendly
The C5 will come with the latest version of Ovi Maps, which offers turn-by-turn directions and free maps.

Like all Symbian S60 3rd Edition models, this smartphone will be able to play music and video, and it will be bundeld with a 2 GB microSD memory card to store these files.

The C5 will also let users chat via Nokia Messaging, Google Talk or Windows Live Messenger.

In addition, it will have a 3.2-megapixel camera, a 3.5 mm headset jack, and a stereo FM radio.

Nokia is promising up to 12 hours of talktime on a GSM connection.

Availability
The Nokia C5 will be released in the second quarter of this year in Europe, Asia, SEAP, China and MEA. It's not known when -- or if -- it will be available in the U.S.

It will sell for €135 ($185 US) without a service contract.
