HTC is supposedly going to continue the popular Touch Pro line of business-oriented Windows Mobile smartphones.
The original in this series was relatively compact with a 2.8-inch VGA touchscreen, while the currently-available Touch Pro2 is much larger and sports 3.6-inch WVGA display.
Information leaking out about the upcoming third model says that it will apparently hark back to the original by sporting a design that's "much smaller and thinner" than the current one.
The HTC Touch Pro3 will allegedly be on the market this fall, and will launch with Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.5 Pro. It's not clear if this device will be upgradeable to Windows Phone 7.
Is It the HTC Tera?
Several months ago, a roadmap of upcoming smartphones leaked out of HTC. One of the devices on this is the HTC Tera, which fits the description of Touch Pro3 relatively well.
The specifications for the Tera indicate that it is going to have a slide-and-tilt Touchscreen like the Touch Pro2, with a landscape-oriented keyboard and a 3.0-inch, WQVGA (240 x 400) touchscreen.
It will reportedly be 4.5 inches long, 2.0 inches wide, and 0.6 inches thick, which would make it a bit smaller than the current Touch Pro2 in every dimension.
Other features of the Tera will include a 600 MHz processor, 3.2 MPx camera, and a 3.5 mm headset jack.
Whether the HTC Touch Pro3 and the HTC Tera are the same model can not yet be confirmed, as HTC has not officially announced either.
