HTC HD2 Definitely Coming to T-Mobile on March 24

T-Mobile hasn't announced the release date for the highly-anticipated HTC HD2, and recently there have been conflicting reports on when the launch will be. Now, information leaking out of this carrier has apparently settled the matter.

A document found on T-Mobile's intranet spells it out in black and white:

"T-Mobile is scheduled to launch the HTC HD2 exclusively to T-Mobile customers on March 24."

According to information that leaked from T-Mobile earlier this month, the smartphone will sell for $200 with a two-year contract or $450 without a contract.

UPDATE: T-Mobile has now officially confirmed this release date and price.

An Overview of the HTC HD2
The HD2 is possibly the most cutting-edge model available today with Microsoft's mobile operating system. It has 1 GHz processor and sports a 4.3-inch WVGA capacitive display with multi-touch support.

It was one of the first devices on the market with Microsoft's Windows Mobile 6.5 Pro, but it has a new version of HTC's custom user interface layered on top. This used to be called TouchFLO, but has been renamed HTC Sense to reflect a greater focus on consumers.

It doesn't include a hardware keyboard, but that's about the only feature it lacks.

The HTC HD2 is the first Windows Mobile smartphone with a capacitive display that supports multi-touch, so users can resize websites, Microsoft Office files, PDF documents and pictures easier with a pinch of their fingers.

This 4.3-inch display is the largest yet on a smartphone running Microsoft's OS, and has a WVGA (800 by 480 pixel) resolution.

Naturally, the HD2 has mobile broadband (7.2 Mbps HSDPA), and includes Wi-Fi b/g and Bluetooth 2.1. It is also able to act as a Wi-Fi router for another computer.

T-Mobile's version will include a whopping 576 MB of RAM and a 16 GB microSD memory card.

All versions offer a 5 megapixel camera with auto-focus, GPS receiver, 1,230 mAh battery, and a 3.5 mm headset jack.

This HTC device comes with Windows Mobile's standard collection of mobile apps: Outlook, Office, Media Player. Opera Mobile is the default web browser.

The HD2 debuted late last year in Europe, but T-Mobile USA will be the first wireless operator in America to offer it.
