Google Nexus One Now Available to AT&T Customers

Google has just introduced a version of the Nexus One that fully supports AT&T's cellular-wireless network, including its 3G service. Until now, the flagship Android OS smartphone has been available only to T-Mobile customers.

This device is not being offered by AT&T -- it is an unlocked phone with support for AT&T's network, as well as most other GSM networks in N. America. This means there is no way to buy service along with the phone, and there will be no carrier subsidy.

As a result, AT&T customers will have to pay full price for the Nexus One: $529.

This model can be ordered now of Google's website.

Canada, Too
The version of the Nexus One that is was released today will also run on Rogers Wireless in Canada, though it is not officially supported by this carrier. 

For the first time, this smartphone can now be shipped to Canada from Google's web store. Previously, it was available on in the U.S.

An Overview of the Google Nexus One
This smartphone is the first to be released by Google under its own brand name, and it offers a number of high-end features.

It has a tablet shape with a 3.7-inch, WVGA, AM-OLED display and a trackball.

The Nexus One runs Android OS 2.1 on a 1 GHz Snapdragon processor, making it the first to offer this combination. As it uses Google's operating system, it comes with a suite of applications with strong ties to this company's online services for email, calendar, navigation, and more. There's also a growing collection of third-party apps.

It has 512 MB RAM, and this device comes with a 4 GB microSD card. Users have the option to expand this up to 32 GB.

This is a quad-band GSM phone (850/900/1800/1900 MHz). The original version supports T-Mobile's 3G service (900/AWS/2100 MHz), and as mentioned earlier, the newest one supports AT&T's and Roger's 3G service (850/1900/2100 MHz).

In addition, the Nexus One also has Wi-Fi b/g and Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR with stereo support.

Other features include a 5 MPx camera with auto-focus and LED flash, 3.5 mm headset jack, a GPS receiver, accelerometer, and digital compass.
