HTC HD2 Now Available from T-Mobile

Today is T-Mobile's release date for the highly anticipated HTC HD2. This is the U.S. debut of the most advanced smartphone running Microsoft's Windows Mobile operating system on the market.

The HD2 has 1 GHz processor and sports a 4.3-inch WVGA touchscreen, the largest yet on a smartphone running Microsoft's OS.

It runs Windows Mobile 6.5 Pro, but it has a new version of HTC's custom user interface layered on top. This used to be called TouchFLO, but has been renamed HTC Sense to reflect a greater focus on consumers.

The HD2 doesn't include a hardware keyboard, but that's about the only feature it lacks.

This is the first Windows Mobile smartphone with a capacitive display that supports multi-touch, so users can resize websites, Microsoft Office files, PDF documents and pictures easier with a pinch of their fingers.

Naturally, the HD2 has mobile broadband (7.2 Mbps HSDPA), and includes Wi-Fi b/g and Bluetooth 2.1. It is also able to act as a Wi-Fi router for another computer.

T-Mobile's version includes a whopping 576 MB of RAM and is bundled with a 16 GB microSD memory card.

It also offers a 5 megapixel camera with auto-focus, GPS receiver, 1,230 mAh battery, and a 3.5 mm headset jack.

This HTC device comes with Windows Mobile's standard collection of mobile apps: Outlook, Office, Media Player. Opera Mobile is the default web browser.

Pricing & Availability
The HTC HD2 sells for $200 with a two-year contract, or $450 without a contract.
