Sprint's official Facebook page says the HTC EVO 4G is going to hit the market in the middle of next month, even though this carrier had previously stated that this very high-end Android OS smartphone won't be released until much later.
This carrier's Facebook page lists an event called "Coming Soon - HTC EVO 4G" that starts on March 23 and ends on April 16. This model was officially unveiled on March 23, so the end date implies that the release is going to be on April 16.
However, this is not at all in line with Sprint's statement during the announcement of the EVO 4G last week that this model is going to be introduced this summer.
An Overview of the HTC EVO 4G
This model is going to be one of the most advanced smartphones released this year, as it is going to offer a 4.3-inch, WVGA touchscreen, the 4G standard WiMAX, and 1 GHz Snapdragon processor.
On top of Android OS 2.1, the EVO 4G will run HTC Sense, this company's alternate user interface that expands on Google's standard one. It will come with Google's standard suite of communication, Web, and entertainment software.
As mentioned earlier, this smartphone is going to come with support for Sprint's WiMAX network, which should give it peak downlink speeds of up to 12 Mbps, and average downlink speeds of 2-4 Mbps. It will also have the 3G standard EV-DO, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
The HTC EVO 4G will also have an HD video port that can connect to any TV or monitor that supports 720p, a GPS receiver, microSD memory card slot, and a kickstand that holds it up at an angle when playing movies.
Sprint has not yet announced the price it is going to charge for this high-end smartphone.
