The Brighthand Mobile Film Festival was held at CTIA last week, and the names of winners of this inaugural short video competition have been announced. This festival showcased some of the most innovative made-for-mobile content from filmmakers worldwide.
Entries were judged by a panel of experts who rated the ultra-short films on such things as creativity, entertainment value, ‘real world' utility and best use of currently-available mobile technology.
The winning films in the Brighthand Mobile Film festival by category are:
Comedy: Turbo Dates: Love Potion, produced by Frank Chindamo, Fun Little Movies; created by Jocelyn Stamat; written/directed by Terry Rossio
Drama: The Wind of Change, produced by Susie Watson
Music: Escalate, produced by Timo Boese
Animation: Bea Wildered, Happy Earth Day, produced by Frank Chindamo, Fun Little Movies for PlanetGreen.com; directed by Lynn Chindamo
Documentary: Filmmakers, The Next Generation, produced by Peter John Ross
Series: All Summer Long, produced by Ed Portillo
Finalists and award winners in the competition will have the option of presenting their films on mFlix, a leading mobile video channel offered on the Sprint wireless network, as part of a special Brighthand Mobile Film Festival segment.
Viewers' Choice Award
All of the entries in this festival are still available for viewing on the Brighthand Mobile Film Festival website, and voting for a Viewer’s Choice award continues through the end of March.
Mobile voting can be performed by texting ‘MOVIES’ to 20583 and entering the five-digit number associated with each film. The voting service is provided by Renu Mobile, which partnered with Brighthand for the mobile festival.
