There is new evidence that Verizon Wireless is going to release the highly-anticipated HTC Incredible in the near future. An unconfirmed report says this carrier is already stockpiling this high-end Android OS smartphone.
Verizon supposedly has over 150,000 units of this device already in its central warehouse.
Unfortunately for those eager to get their hands on the Incredible, the source for this information says these units are not going to ship out to stores this week, but beyond that is unaware of the actual launch date.
A separate unconfirmed report last month indicated that Verizon is going to release this smartphone early in April.
So far, no source has been able to reveal what Verizon will charge for this model.
A Preliminary Overview of the HTC Incredible
According to information that has leaked out of HTC and Verizon, the HTC Incredible will launch running Android OS 2.1 on a 1 GHz processor, but this will be downclocked to 768 MHz.
This model will apparently include HTC Sense, this company's alternate user interface that enhances Google's standard UI.
It is almost certainly a version of the HTC Bravo -- other versions of this device include the Google Nexus One and the HTC Legend.
This smartphone reportedly will use a tablet shape with a 3.7-inch WVGA (800 by 480 pixel) AM-OLED touchscreen. Below this will be an optical touchpad.
The Incredible is expected to support Verizon's 3G mobile broadband network, and include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and a GPS receiver.
Other features will include an 8 megapixel camera with dual LED flashes, and FM Tuner, and a 1300 mAh battery.
It will supposedly have 6 GB of internal storage plus a microSD memory card slot and 512 MB of RAM.
