HTC EVO 4G Might Launch in June

Sprint has promised to release the Android OS-based HTC EVO 4G this summer, but hasn't announced an official date yet. Although an unofficial report indicates that the first smartphone with WiMAX is going to debut in early June.

The EVO 4G's high-end features have attracted a lot of attention, including a large, high-resolution touchscreen, 1 GHz processor and the latest version of Google's Android OS.

According to information leaking out of Sprint, the smartphone could launch either June 6 or June 13. Both dates land on a Sunday, which is typically when the carrier launches new models.

Sprint has not yet announced a price tag for the high-end smartphone, however there is word on what the carrier is going to charge for one of its most hotly-anticipated features: an ability to share its 4G connection with up to eight other devices over Wi-Fi.

Using this service will reportedly cost $10 to $20 per month, in addition to voice and data service charges.

Overview of the HTC EVO 4G
With a 4.3-inch WVGA touchscreen, the 4G standard WiMAX and 1 GHz Snapdragon processor, the model is likely going to be among the most advanced smartphones released this year.

On top of Android OS 2.1, the EVO 4G will run HTC Sense, the company's alternate user interface that expands on Google's. It will come with Google's standard suite of communication, Web and entertainment software.

As mentioned earlier, the smartphone is going to support Sprint's WiMAX network, which should give it peak downlink speeds of up to 12 Mbps, and an average downlink speed of 2-4 Mbps. It's also going to have the 3G standard EV-DO, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

The HTC EVO 4G is going to include an HD video port that can connect to TVs and monitors that support 720p, a GPS receiver, microSD memory card slot and a kickstand that holds it at an angle when playing movies.
