It's Official: Verizon Launching the HTC Droid Incredible on April 29
Verizon accidentally gave the world a peek at the teaser website for its upcoming smartphone, the HTC Droid Incredible. This will apparently be the official name for the highly-anticipated, high-end Android OS-based model, which is debuting in two weeks.
Information about the model has been leaking from HTC and Verizon for months, but the latest slip-up confirms many earlier details and exposes new ones.
Aside from the official name, the most notable is the release date; according to the teaser page the Droid Incredible will be available April 29.
Verizon quickly realized its error and the page showing the upcoming model was quickly blocked from public access.
Update on Specs
A partial list of of specifications for the Incredible has been found on Verizon's website, which confirms earlier reports that the smartphone will run Google's Android OS with HTC's Sense user interface layered on top.
It's going to have a tablet shape with a 3.7-inch WVGA (480 x 800) OLED touchscreen.
The HTC model is going to be based on a 1 GHz processor and have 8 GB of internal storage and an 8 megapixel auto-focus camera.
Overall, the Incredible will be 4.6 x 2.3 x 0.5 inches amd weigh 4.6 ounces.
More Details
According to earlier leaked details, the Droid Incredible will support Verizon's 3G mobile broadband network, and include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and a GPS receiver.
Other features will supposedly include a microSD memory card slot, 512 MB of RAM, 3.5 mm headset jack, an FM tuner and a 1300 mAh battery.
The HTC Droid Incredible is reportedly going to cost $200 with a contract.
