At the Chirp Conference in San Francisco, Evan Williams, Twitter co-founder and CEO, announced that the social networking service is going to offer an official Android OS app.
Although Williams made the commitment this week, he didn't give details on when the software will be released.
However, Google Nexus One and HTC Hero users don't have to wait for an official app to access Twitter, since there is already a wide array of Twitter-compatible software in the Android market.
Multiple Smartphone Version
Twitter has clearly gotten serious about having people use its service on smartphones.
Last week, the company introduced a public beta of an official BlackBerry version. This was quickly followed by an announcement that the company is acquiring Tweetie, an already available app, which will become the official version for the iPhone.
