Research In Motion is reportedly prepping the BlackBerry 9670, its first smartphone with a clamshell design and a QWERTY keyboard. It could also be the first device to debut with Blackberry OS 6.0.
RIM's BlackBerry Pearl Flip also has a clamshell-shape, but this model has a SureType keyboard. According to images and details that have leaked out, the 9670 will have a full keyboard.
It will also supposedly have 360 × 480 pixel internal display as well as a relatively large, color, external screen. It will include a trackpad, as neither of them will be touchcreens.
The first images of the device to leak out show it running BlackBerry OS 6.0, a new version of RIM's operating system that's expected to debut this summer. It will be a noticeably enhanced version with a redesigned home screen and a more advanced web browser, among other changes.
More Hardware Details
The 9670 is going to apparently be headed to one or more CDMA carriers like Verizon or Sprint, and it will offer Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
Although some details on the BlackBerry 9670 still remain unknown, it will allegedly be RIM's first with a 5 megapixel camera, as well as a microSD memory card slot.
