It's Official: T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide To Hit Market in June

T-Mobile has just formally announced its next Android OS-powered smartphone, the myTouch 3G Slide. It will sport a built-in keyboard and focus messaging.

The Slide will have a 3.4-inch HVGA (320 x 480 pixel) touchscreen, slide-out landscape-oriented keyboard, and a trackpad.

Android OS and More
The smartphone will be T-Mobile's first with the latest version of Google's mobile operating system, Android OS 2.1. In addition to the usual suite of communication, Internet and personal productivity software that comes with Android, the carrier is adding some software and services that are debuting in this model.

Faves Gallery will present up to 20 people and all the different ways to communicate with them - calls, texts, email, instant messaging, social networking updates - in a dedicated application. 

The Genius Button, powered by Dragon Dictation from Nuance Communications, will be a button on the front of the myTouch 3G Slide allowing the use of voice commands to control the phone and its features. This will include making calls, composing and sending texts and emails, and searching the Web. It will even read text messages out loud, and let users dictate responses out loud.

myModes is going to let users create themes with different home screen apps, widgets and wallpapers, allowing the device to be easily switched between configurations for work and play. For example, one mode can feature email and calendar widgets, while another will offer the music player and games.

T-Mobile is positioning it as a "crossover" device, which means it's good for both business and personal use. In addition to consumer-friendly apps like a music and video player and YouTube, the Slide is also going to include support for synchronizing email and PIM data with Google's services and Microsoft Exchange, and software for editing Microsoft Office files.

Don't Forget the Hardware
Naturally, the myTouch 3G Slide will be able to access T-Mobile's voice and 3G networks. It will also have Wi-Fi and stereo Bluetooth.

In addition, the device is going to include a 5 megapixel camera with autofocus and built-in flash, and a microSD memory card slot with an 8 GB card pre-installed.

Other features will include a GPS receiver and a 1300 mAh Lion battery

Overall, this smartphone is going to be 4.5 x 2.3 x 0.6 inches and weigh 5.9 ounces.

Availability
The T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide is scheduled to launch in June.
