AT&T To Introduce Palm Pre Plus Next Week

AT&T is going to launch its version of Palm's flagship smartphone on Sunday, making it the third wireless carrier to offer a webOS model.

The Palm Pre Plus has a consumer focus, with a multi-touch capacitive display, 3G, Wi-Fi, GPS and a hardware keyboard. It is already available from Verizon Wireless, and Sprint has the original Palm Pre.

AT&T is going to charge $150 for the device, with a service contract and mail-in rebate.

For a limited time, those who purchase the Palm Pre Plus in an AT&T retail stores will get a free Palm Touchstone Charging Dock.

An Overview of the Palm Pre Plus
The smartphone is a slider with a 3.1-inch HVGA touchscreen, 16 GB of internal storage, and a 3.0 megapixel camera with LED flash.

It runs Palm's webOS, the replacement for the venerable Palm OS. This is a multi-tasking operating system able to wirelessly synchronize a wide variety of data with online services like Google, Yahoo and Facebook, as well as Microsoft Exchange.

The webOS includes an on-device app store, and a growing collection of third-party software is available.
