It's Official: Verizon Will Introduce the LG Fathom Windows Phone This Week

Verizon Wireless has just taken the wraps off the LG Fathom, what will surely be one of the last devices to launch with Microsoft's Windows Mobile before it is replaced with Windows Phone 7 this fall.

When it is released later this week, this business-oriented smartphone will offer a sliding landscape-oriented keyboard and a 3.2-inch touchscreen. The resolution for this has yet to be confirmed, but it will supposedly be WVGA (800 x 480).

It will run Windows Mobile 6.5.3 on a 1 GHz processor, and will come with Microsoft's suite of communication, productivity, and entertainment applications, including mobile versions of Outlook, Internet Explorer, Office, and Windows Media Player.

A Worldphone
The LG Fathom (VS750) will support Verizon's voice and 3G network, and will also be able to connect to GSM voice and HSDPA high-speed data networks when roaming outside of the U.S.

This smartphone is also going to have Wi-Fi b/g/n and Bluetooth 2.1.

In addition, the LG Fathom's feature list includes a 3.2 megapixel camera, GPS, and a microSD memory card slot.

Physically, it is going to be 4.5 x 2.2 x 0.7 inches (115 x 56 x 17 mm) and 5.36 oz (152 g).

Pricing and Availability
The LG Fathom will go on sale first in Verizon's business channel on Thursday. Consumers will be able to buy the device on June 3.

It is going to sell for $150 after a $100 mail-in rebate with a new or renewed two-year customer agreement.

Customers will need to subscribe to a Verizon Wireless Nationwide Talk plan and an Email and Web for Smartphone plan. Nationwide Talk plans begin at $40 monthly access. Email and Web for Smartphone plans start at $30 for unlimited monthly access.
