Samsung says that its Behold II is going to get a long-awaited upgrade to Google's Android OS 1.6, but that will be the last operating system upgrade this smartphone from T-Mobile will receive.
Samsung Mobile and T-Mobile USA are planning to update the Behold II to Android 1.6 which provides access to Google Maps Navigation, Google Voice Search capability and quick search box for Android.
The update will also supply additional benefits including Swype, an improved Media Player, updated core Android applications and improved Bluetooth capabilities. However, the Behold II is not upgradeable beyond Android 1.6.
An Overview of the Samsung Behold II
T-Mobile's fourth Android-based smartphone has a tablet shape, and includes a 3.2-inch AM-OLED touchscreen. As mentioned earlier, this is an display, a type that uses less power and offers better colors at wider viewing angles.
It is currently running Android 1.5, and uses Samsung's proprietary TouchWiz user interface in place of the standard one. This provides one-touch access to commonly-used features and applications, including the "Cube" multimedia launcher.
The smartphone gives users access to T-Mobile's 3G network, as well as Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth 2.1. It also includes a 5 megapixel camera with auto-focus and flash, and is bundled with a 2 GB microSD storage card.
