Apple iPhone 4 Pre-Orders Start Tomorrow

Those who want to be among the first to get an Apple iPhone 4 can put in a pre-order starting tomorrow. This highly-anticipated smartphone is going to be released later in the month.

Apple's web site and Apple stores will start taking pre-orders on Tuesday.

In the U.S., customers will also be able to put in pre-orders at AT&T retail stores or online at www.att.com/iphone.

In addition, the electronics retailer Best Buy will be taking pre-orders starting tomorrow. So will rival retailer Radio Shack. 

Wal-Mart is going to offer the iPhone 4 on launch day, but there has been no word on whether the retail giant will be taking pre-orders.

Pricing and Availability
The iPhone 4 is going to come in two configurations: a version with 16 GB of storage will cost $200 and one with 32 GB will go for $300. These prices are for new AT&T customers willing to sign up for a two-year contract, or current customers who qualify for a subsidy. Current customers who don't qualify will have to pay $200 more.

This smartphone will be available on June 24. The only wireless carrier in the U.S. that will be allowed to offer it on launch day is AT&T.

Overview of the Apple iPhone 4
Apple's fourth-generation smartphone is going to be a significant upgrade from the current one, starting with its 3.5-inch, 640 x 960 touchscreen, a much higher resolution than any previous iPhone has offered.

It's going to have a new slimmer design and run iOS 4.0, the latest version of Apple's operating system, on a 1 GHz Apple A4 processor. This will be the first version of Apple's mobile OS with support for multitasking.

The iPhone 4 will have a 5 megapixel rear-facing camera with a flash and support for recording 720p video at 30 frames per second. In addition, it's going to include a small front-facing camera for video chatting with an app called FaceTime.

Not everything is being improved: Apple's upcoming smartphone will have the same amount of storage capacity as the current one.
