Sprint's HTC EVO 4G Sold Out Once Again

Sprint has once again sold out of its stock of the HTC EVO 4G. Since this high-end Android OS smartphone debuted earlier this month, demand has been so high that the device has been in and out of stock on Sprint's web site.

The model's feature set makes it one of the most advanced phones available today. It boasts a very large, high-resolution touchscreen, fast processor, and 4G cellular-wireless networking, and will soon offer video chatting.

On its launch day, Sprint sold twice as many EVO 4G units as it had ever sold any previous smartphone in a single day. However, the carrier and HTC haven't been able to keep up with demand, and Sprint stores and website quickly ran out of stock. A second shipment a few days later has also now been exhausted.

Sprint's website has a note that is becoming familiar to those shopping for this model: "Sorry, this device is so hot we can't keep it on our virtual shelves. Check back later - more are on their way!"

The carrier is not taking pre-orders at this time, and there is no word on when the next shipment will arrive.

Overview of the HTC EVO 4G
The HTC EVO 4G is the first smartphone available in the U.S. with WiMAX. This very high-end model also a 4.3-inch touchscreen, a slim tablet shape, and 1 GHz Snapdragon processor.

It runs Google's Android OS, and has HTC Sense, this company's alternate user interface that expands on Google's standard one.

Other features include 8 GB of removable storage, GPS, an 8 megapixel camera, video conferencing, Wi-Fi, and much more.

It is available exclusively from Sprint, and is selling for $200 with a two-year contract.
