Earlier this week, an update for the system software on the HTC EVO 4G was released and then quickly withdrawn after some customers reported problems. An updated version of this update is now available.
Shortly after firmware version 1.47.651.1 started being sent to evo 4G users, reports of problems began to surface, so over-the-air distribution was halted.
According to an HTC spokesperson, "HTC and Sprint have implemented changes that eliminate the issue that a small number of HTC evo 4G customers experienced, and owners should not hesitate to accept the software update when prompted."

This isn't the much anticipated move to Android OS 2.2. It's a much smaller update created to fix bugs.

Availability
Sprint is distributing the new version of the system software directly to the HTC Evo 4G as an over-the-air update. To receive it, customers don't have to do anything until they are notified by their smartphone that the update has arrived.
Those who have problems after installing the initial version of the update should take their unit to a Sprint store for diagnosis.

The HTC EVO 4G is the first smartphone available in the U.S. with WiMAX. This very high-end model also a 4.3-inch touchscreen, a slim tablet shape, and 1 GHz Snapdragon processor.
It runs Google's Android OS, and has HTC Sense, this company's alternate user interface that expands on Google's standard one.
It is available exclusively from Sprint.
