Motorola Charm To Be T-Mobile's Next Android OS Smartphone

Android OS-based Motorola Charm Officially Headed for T-Mobile

T-Mobile USA is reportedly prepping the Motorola Charm, its latest model running Google's Android OS.

An image that has leaked out of the carrier shows this device will have a design generally used by inexpensive messaging-oriented smartphones: a tablet with a small keyboard fixed below its 2.8-inch 320x240 (QVGA) touchscreen.

The Charm will have one unique feature: instead of a small D-pad or optical trackpad below its screen, it will include a relatively large trackpad on its back. The Backtrack is a feature that debuted on the Motorola Backflip.

This smartphone will allegedly run Android OS 2.1 on a 600 MHz processor and include 512 MB of RAM and 512 MB of ROM.

On top of Google's standard user interface will be a version of MotoBlur, Motorola's alternate UI that emphasizes social networking.

The rest of the specifications for the Charm haven't been revealed yet, and may have to wait on an official announcement from T-Mobile.

Availability
The Motorola Charm is expected to be on the market by the end of this month.

It will sell for $75 with a 2-year contract and mail-in rebate or for $270 without a contract, according to information leaking out of T-Mobile.
