The Samsung Intercept is going to debut from Sprint this weekend. This Android OS smartphone is going to sell for $100 and will offer an entry-level feature set with a Touchscreen and sliding keyboard.
The general design of the Intercept is similar to Sprint's Samsung Moment -- both have landscape-oriented sliding QWERTY keyboards -- but the upcoming model will have a 3.0-inch, 240 x 400 pixel touchscreen, smaller and lower resolution than its predecessor.
It will run Android OS 2.1 on an 800 MHz processor, and will include a suite of communication and entertainment software, such as a powerful web browser, Google Maps, Gmail, YouTube, and a Microsoft Office file viewer. Users will also have access to the over 50,000 applications available in Android Market.
Wireless, Storage, and More
The Samsung Intercept is going to offer access to Sprint 3G network (EV-DO Rev. 0) and feature Wi-Fi b/g, Bluetooth, and a GPS receiver.
It will include a 3.2 megapixel camera, microSD memory card slot, accelerometer, and proximity sensor.
Pricing and Availability
The Samsung Intercept is going to launch Sunday, July 11 through all Sprint channels, including sprint.com and select national retail partners.
It will sell for $100 after a $100 mail-in-rebate with a two-year service agreement.
