Android OS smartphones with 1 GHz processors are becoming increasingly common, and device makers are getting ready to move on to faster chips. Some images and specifications of an HTC model with a 1.2 GHz processor have leaked out.
A partial list of specifications shows that this is going to be a very high-end device. However, the name is not yet known.
This HTC smartphone is going to have a 4-inch display and a relatively large, landscape-oriented sliding keyboard.
It will supposedly be based on Google's Android OS, but the release is still some months away so the version is not yet known -- OS 2.2 or possibly 3.0.
It's clearly headed for Verizon Wireless, and will be one of this company's few worldphones, also capable of working on GSM networks in Europe, Asia, and beyond.
The source for this information was not able to reveal any of the other specifications.
Coming Next Year
This mystery model is allegedly going to be released early in 2011. Whether that's January or later is not yet known.
A price is also not yet known, and probably hasn't been set yet.
