The Samsung Captivate is AT&T's first high-end Android OS smartphone. It normally sells for $200 but new AT&T subscribers can get it for much less.
Wireless carriers regularly offer special deals to new customers, hoping that discounts on phones will lure in additional subscribers. But carriers almost never advertise these deals on their own websites. Instead, these special sales are handled by other retailers.
That's why both Amazon.com and Wirefly are listing the Samsung Captivate at $100 to new AT&T subscribers. This carrier's current customers, even ones that qualify for a subsidy, have to pay $200.
