T-Mobile's regular price for the Samsung Vibrant is $200 with contract, but today only the carrier is offering this high-end Android OS smartphone for just $99.
This deal is available to new customers and current ones who qualify for a subsidized upgrade. The device must be ordered online, though.
The Vibrant can be ordered at this special price -- today only -- on T-Mobile's website.
The price without a contract remains at $500.
Overview of the Samsung Vibrant
This smartphone is a version of the Samsung Galaxy S, so it has a tablet shape with a 4-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen. AMOLED displays provide more vibrant colors than standard LCDs, and are thinner and use less power.
The Vibrant runs Android OS 2.1 on a 1 GHz Samsung Cortex A8 Hummingbird processor.
As it is based on Google's operating system, this model comes with a suite of communication, entertainment, and productivity applications. Many of these will tie into Google services like YouTube and Gmail, but users will also be able to get their business mail through Microsoft Exchange.
It comes with a 2 GB external memory card, and users will have the option of switching this out with higher capacity cards, up to 32 GB.
This device can connect to T-Mobile's 3G (HSPA) network, and the Vibrant offers GPS functionality with access to turn-by-turn navigation as well as the Swype text input system.
It also features a 5-megapixel camera with digital zoom and auto-focus, and a video camera for high-definition (720p) videos and photos for playback on an HD television.
