LG Aims at First-Time Smartphone Buyers with Two Optimus Models

The LG Optimus One and LG Optimus Chic are an upcoming pair of Android OS-based devices created for those buying their first smartphone.

Despite the different slightly names and designs, these two are going to be quite similar. They were actually pre-announced several months ago, but LG is just now revealing all the specifications.

As they will be entry-level smartphones, they will include 3.2-inch, HVGA touchscreens -- smaller and lower resolution than more expensive devices.

These Optimus models will run Android OS 2.2 on 600 MHz processors, when high-end models use a 1 GHz chip.

Still, they aren't going to be  completely "bare bones" devices. They will sport 3G (7.2 Mbps HSDPA), Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and 2 GB microSD memory cards.

The Optimus One will have a 3 megapixel auto-focus camera and a 1500 mAh battery, while the Optimus Chic is going to include a 5 MPx AF camera, DLNA support, and a 1250 mAh battery.

As they will run Google's mobile operating system, both these smartphones will include a collection of entertainment and communication apps, including a very capable web browser, navigation software, and much more.

Pricing & Availability
The LG Optimus One will be available in most of Europe in October followed by other EMEA and Asia-Pacific countries.

The LG Optimus Chic will arrive in Europe a month later, with other markets in Asia-Pacific to follow soon after.
