Details and Specs of the HTC Mozart Windows Phone Leak Out

It's no surprise that HTC is working on a model running Microsoft's new Windows Phone 7 operating system, but this company has yet to officially unveil this device. Unofficial sources have now revealed many of the details on this smartphone, including its name.

Microsoft has set a list of requirements for all devices running this new OS, so many of the features for the HTC Mozart come as no surprise.

According to the leaked specifications sheet, it will be based on a 1 GHz processor, and 576 MB of RAM, and 8 GB of internal storage.

This smartphone is also reportedly going to have an 8 megapixel camera and a 1,300 mAh battery.

A video that accompanies the leaked specifications list reveals something about what the Mozart is going to look like, including its 3.7-inch, WVGA touchscreen.

HTC Mozart = HTC HD7?
It's possible that the actually shipping name of the Mozart is going to be the HTC HD7, as unconfirmed reports about this model have been circulating for some time.

If so, then this smartphone is reportedly going to debut in mid October.

Despite its name, Microsoft's next smartphone operating system has little in common with its predecessors. It will have a completely different user interface and won't run applications written for the earlier versions nor will any current models be upgradeable.

Its focus has moved to consumers, and its UI emphasizes social networking, pictures, games, etc. It has also been redesigned to be controlled with a fingertip.

Just about the only significant similarity between old and new is that both include Microsoft Office Mobile and support for synchronizing with Microsoft Exchange. 

The first devices running Windows Phone 7 are scheduled to be released this fall. This will include models from LG and Samsung, as well as HTC.

AT&T is certainly going to offer smartphones based on this new OS at launch, and T-Mobile might. Microsoft revealed recently that its devices won't support CDMA networks at first, closing out Verizon and Sprint.
