LG Vortex Could Be Verizon's Version of the LG Optimus One Android OS Smartphone

The LG Optimus One is an inexpensive Android OS-powered smartphone that was officially unveiled last week. According to an unconfirmed report, this entry-level model is going to be released by Verizon Wireless as the LG Vortex.

What is supposedly an image of this device has also leaked out. It shows a phone generally resembles the Optimus One but the buttons on the front have been re-configured and a Verizon logo has been added.

The source for this report was not able to reveal when the LG Vortex will be released, or its exact price.

It will apparently not be part of Verizon's Droid series, because this carrier gives only its high-end models that name.

LG Optimus One Overview
This device, which has been created for those buying their first smartphone, will include 3.2-inch, HVGA Touchscreen in a tablet shape.

It will run Android OS 2.2 on a 600 MHz processor, and will sport 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and a 2 GB microSD memory card.

The Optimus One will have a 3 megapixel auto-focus camera and a 1500 mAh battery.

If this report is correct, the LG Vortex will be joining a wide array of Android OS smartphones offered by Verizon. Its main drawing point is likely to be its low price.

No matter what they cost, all of these come with a collection of communication and entertainment software developed by Google. Much of this ties into Google's own services, like Gmail, YouTube, and Google Maps.
