Verizon Wireless has released an update for the operating system on the Samsung Fascinate. This brings a number of small improvements and bug fixes, but the much-anticipated upgrade to Android OS 2.2 is still some time in the future.
According to the official changelog, firmware version DI01 makes the following changes:

According to Verizon's support website, the Fascinate's OS update for can be manually installed by going to Settings > About phone >System updates > Download.
Users also have the option to wait for Verizon to send the update to this smartphone automatically. Users will be notified when their device has received the new system software and given the option to install it.
Overview of the Samsung Fascinate
This model has a tablet shape with a 4-inch WVGA touchscreen. The Fascinate doesn't have a physical keyboard, but ships with the Swype on-screen text-entry system.
The Fascinate is debuting with Google's Android OS 2.1, but an upgrade to version 2.2 is in development.
This Samsung device supports Verizon's 3G network and includes Wi-Fi b/g/n. It is also able to combine these functions and act as a Wi-Fi hotspot to share its Internet connection with other computers.
It includes 2 GB of internal storage and is bundled with a 16 GB microSD memory card. Users will have the option of purchasing higher capacity cards, up to 32 GB.
The Fascinate sports a 5.0-megapixel camera with auto-focus and an LED flash. This supports HD (720p) video recording and playback.
Other features include Bluetooth and a 3.5 mm headset jack.
As it runs Google's operating system, the Fascinate comes with a suite of communication, entertainment, and productivity applications. Many of these tie into Google services like YouTube and Gmail, but users are also able to get their business mail through Microsoft Exchange.
It is part of the Samsung Galaxy S series.
