Verizon's Samsung Continuum Might Sport Two Displays

Verizon Wireless is supposedly prepping yet another Android OS-based smartphone. Details on the Samsung Continuum are few and far between, but one important one has leaked out: this model will have more than one screen.

According to an unconfirmed report, this smartphone will have a tablet shape with the usual large Touchscreen and function buttons on its face. Located just below these, however, will be something very unusual: a secondary display about an inch tall but the same width as the main one.

This will light up whenever the user is holding the bottom of the screen, and will give basic status information, including the contents pf RSS feeds, weather, etc. The intent is apparently to give the user the latest updates without having to turn on the main screen, which would have a greater drain on the battery.

Very few other details on the Continuum have leaked out, but it will allegedly be part of the Samsung Galaxy S series -- other devices in this series run Android OS 2.1 on 1 GHz processors, and have 4-inch WVGA displays.

Leaked images if this upcoming smartphone clearly shows the Verizon logo, as well as the Galaxy S one. They also show a rear-facing camera with flash.

Nothing about a release date or price for the Samsung Continuum is yet known.
