T-Mobile has just taken the wraps off a smartphone whose 3.8-inch display will be significantly larger than any of this carrier's other Android OS -based models. The T-Mobile myTouch will also be this company's second with support for HSDA+, a very fast version of 3G wireless networking.
It will have a tablet shape dominated by a 3.8-inch,WVGA (800 x 640) touchscreen. Text will be entered with an in-screen keyboard, and users will have the option to use Swype.
The latest myTouch will run Google's Android OS 2.2 on a 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, and will be bundled with an 8 GB microSD memory card.
It will have support for T-Mobile's HSPA+ service, which means it will will be able to wirelessly transfer data fast enough to rival or surpass current 4G networks. It will also have Wi-Fi.
This smartphone will include a 5 megapixel real-racing camera, as well as a a front-facing VGA one for video conferencing -- a first for a T-Mobile smartphone. Users will be able to make calls over Wi-Fi or 3G.
Like Android OS-based models, it will come with an extensive suite of entertainment and communication software.
