T-Mobile has just announced plans to put the Motorola Defy on sale on November 3. This Android OS smartphone has been designed to be scratch resistant and dust proof, and will sell for a mid-range price.
A post on T-Mobile's official Twitter feed says:
Need a rugged phone? Starting Nov. 3, T-Mobile customers can get the @MotoMobile DEFY for only $99.99.
The post seems to indicate that at launch this model will only be available for those who are already T-Mobile customers.
Motorola Defy Overview
This smartphone will have a tablet shape, with a 3.7-inch WVGA (800 x 640) display.
Motorola is touting the Defy's toughness, as it is going to be scratch and water resistant as well as dust proof.
This device is going to run Google's Android OS 2.1 on an 800 MHz processor, and have MotoBlur, Motorola's alternate version of the standard user interface that focuses on social networking.
It will come with a suite of communication and entertainment applications, but its web browser will include Adobe Flash Lite, not the full version of this multimedia software.
The Defy is going to support T-Mobile 3G cellular-wireless network, as well as Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1, and GPS.
This Motorola smartphone will also sport a 5-megapixel camera, a microSD memory card slot, and a 1540 mAh battery.
Overall, the Defy is going to be 2.3 x 4.2 x 0.5 inches and 4.6 ounces.
