PlayStation Phone Images and Details Leak Out

Sony Ericsson isn't yet ready to announce the long-awaited PlayStation Phone, but many of the details on it are nevertheless available already.

The design for this device will supposedly be a slider, but with a set of game controls instead of the traditional keyboard (see image at right). The exact size of the Touchscreen is not yet known, but it will be between 4.1 and 3.7 inches with at least an 800 x 600 (WVGA) resolution.

The sliding panel will be very similar to the one on the Sony PSP Go, but with a large touchpad added.

According to details that have leaked out, this smartphone will run the next version of Google's Android OS (code-named Gingerbread) on a 1 GHz Qualcomm processor with 512 MB of RAM.

The PlayStation Phone will not be able to run titles created for the Playstation Portable, but developers will have to port their products to the Android OS. High-end games such as God of War are allegedly on the docket.

More Hardware Details
Rather than Sony's usual Memory Stick slot, this smartphone will reportedly include a microSD card slot.

A 5 megapixel camera is supposedly on the specifications list, but the remaining features are still unknown.

Slated for 2011?
The source for this latest leak is not clear on when the Sony Ericsson PlayStation Phone is going to be released. It could be on the market by the end of this year, but a launch in 2011 is considered more likely.

The price for this gaming-oriented smartphone is not yet known.
