T-Mobile USA's next Android OS smartphone is going to be the myTouch 4G. This upcoming high-end model will have a large, high-resolution touchscreen, fast processor, and support for this carrier's HSPA+ network.
The myTouch 4G was officially announced weeks ago, but its price and release date are just now being revealed.
This smartphone is going to go on sale on Wednesday, November 3 on T-Mobile's website and in its retail stores. It will also be offered in Best Buy, Costco, Radio Shack, Sam’s Club and Target stores.
It will sell for $200 after a $50 mail-in-rebate with a qualifying two-year voice and data plan.
T-Mobile myTouch 4G Preview
This device will have a tablet shape dominated by a 3.8-inch,WVGA (800 x 640) touchscreen, giving it a display that is significantly larger than any of this carrier's other Android OS -based models.
Text will be entered with an in-screen keyboard, and users will have the option to use Swype.
The latest myTouch will run Google's Android OS 2.2 on a 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, and will be bundled with an 8 GB microSD memory card.
It will have support for T-Mobile's HSPA+ service, which means it will will be able to wirelessly transfer data fast enough to rival or surpass current 4G networks. It will also have Wi-Fi.
This smartphone will include a 5 megapixel real-racing camera, as well as a a front-facing VGA one for video conferencing -- a first for a T-Mobile smartphone. Users will be able to make calls over Wi-Fi or 3G.
Like all Android OS-based models, it will come with an extensive suite of entertainment and communication software.
