Google Nexus Two Might Debut Next Month with Android OS 2.3

Unconfirmed reports indicate that Google is going to offer a second Android OS-based smartphone under its own brand name.

At this point, few details on the Nexus Two are available, but it will supposedly be introduced in the middle of next month.

Unlike its predecessor, it will be made by Samsung. And this smartphone will be the first with Android OS 2.3 (code-named Gingerbread) using the standard user interface, if published reports are correct.

All of its other specifications remain unknown. There have been no additional leaks to reveal its design, screen size, storage capacity, etc.

Samsung has scheduled a press event in New York City on November 8 where it has promised to release a new Android OS-based device. This will reportedly be the unveiling of the Nexus Two.

More About the Nexus Series
The Google Nexus One was introduced early this year to tremendous fanfare. However, all the attention it attracted didn't turn into stellar sales.

This smartphone offered what was a very cutting-edge list of features at the time: it was the first with Android OS 2.1, plus it included a fast processor and a large, high-resolution AM-OLED display.

Sales were hampered by Google's decision to make the Nexus One available only on its website, even though the vast majority of phones sold in the U.S. are purchased through wireless carriers.

Over the summer, the company stopped offering this model, and Google's chairman and CEO announced that there wouldn't be a follow-up model.
