The second high-end Android OS-based smartphone bearing Google brand is going to be unveiled in under two weeks, if unconfirmed reports are correct.
Information on the Nexus Two is still sketchy, but the first partial description has leaked out. This indicates that the model will be similar to Samsung Galaxy S series, but running the next version of the Android OS.
It will supposedly have a tablet shape with the same 4-inch, Super AM-OLED touchscreen that's in most of Samsung's current devices. Unlike models like the Captivate and Vibrant, its back plate will be concave, making it feel thinner. (Note: the image at right is an artist's conception.)
The Nexus Two will reportedly include a front-facing camera, enabling it to be used for video conferencing.
All the reports on this model so far indicate that it will be the first with Google's Android OS 2.3 (code-named Gingerbread). This new version will supposedly have a user interface that's been tweaked a bit, as well as support for Google Talk's video chatting system.
At this point, all of its other specifications remain unknown.
Launching Next Month?
Samsung has scheduled a press event in New York City on November 8 where it has promised to release a new Android OS-based device. This will reportedly be the unveiling of the Google Nexus Two.
What this device will sell for has not yet leaked out.
