Motorola Droid 2 Global Price Leaks Out

Information leaking out of a national retailer has revealed the price for the Motorola Droid 2 Global, which is expected to be on the market very soon.

The Droid 2 only hit the market in late summer, but it is apparently already going to be replaced by a new version with the ability to make calls when roaming outside of the United States.

This device will sell for the same price as its predecessor -- $200 with contract -- according to an inside source at Costco. It will be available in either a black or white casing.

Verizon is reportedly going to introduce the Droid 2 Global on November 11.

The main difference between the current Droid 2 and the upcoming Global version will apparently be support for both Verizon's CDMA/EV-DO network in the United States and the GSM/HSPA networks that are available in most other countries.

In addition, the new model is supposedly going to run Android OS 2.2 on a 1.2 GHz processor, while the original Droid 2 has a 1 GHz processor.

Aside from these changes, though, the Droid 2 Global will be very similar to its predecessor. This means the Verizon smartphone is going to be a slider with a 3.7-inch WVGA display and a landscape-oriented keyboard.

It will include Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, and be able to share its 3G wireless Internet connection with other devices over Wi-Fi, essentially acting as a mobile Wi-Fi hotspot.

According to the information leaking out of Motorola, the Droid 2 Global is going to have a 5 megapixel camera with a flash, 8 GB of on-board storage, a microSD/SDHC memory card slot, 1420 mAh battery, and 3.5 mm headset jack.
