Motorola Droid Pro Might Cost Less than Expected

Verizon has announced the Motorola Droid Pro but hasn't yet revealed what it will cost. According to information leaking out of the carrier, this high-end business-oriented Android OS smartphone is going to have a price below what many had expected.

The Droid Pro is going to be Motorola's best attempt so far to lure away current BlackBerry users, as it will have a design reminiscent of RIM's line of business-oriented devices but with additional features.

According to a new, unconfirmed report, Verizon is going to price the latest model in the Droid series at $180 with a service contract, which is $20 less than high-end smartphones generally sell for.

The Droid Pro has clearly been designed to catch the eye of those who are used to a BlackBerry, but want the greater power and flexibility of the Android OS.

It will have a tablet shape, with a small portrait-oriented keyboard fixed below its 3.1 inch, WVGA touchscreen.

This Android OS 2.2 smartphone will have a 1 GHz processor, 2 GB of internal storage, plus it will be bundled with a 2 GB microSD memory card.

The Droid Pro will work on Verizon's network in the U.S. as well as GSM networks when roaming in other countries. Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS will also be included.

Coming Next Week
According to a timetable leaking out of Verizon, pre-sales for this model will start November 9 and will continue through November 17. Customers who place an order early enough during this period will receive their device before the launch date, as the product will start shipping November 10 or 11. 

This smartphone will supposedly launch on November 18.
