HTC HD7 Windows Phone Now Available at Half Off

T-Mobile's cutting-edge HTC HD7 launched early this week for $200 with contract, but an online retailer is selling it for half that price.

The HD7 has the largest screen of any of smartphone running Microsoft's new Windows Phone 7 operating system, plus it has a range of other high-end features.  

Even though this model is brand new, the online retailer Wirefly is already offering some special deals. Those who are switching to T-Mobile to get this smartphone have to pay just $100. This carrier's current subscribers who qualify for an upgrade subsidy can get it for $120.

This new Windows Phone has a tablet shape, with a 4.3-inch WVGA (800 x 480) capacitive, multi-touch display. The design includes a kickstand on its back.

To take advantage of these video-friendly features, T-Mobile is bundling the HD7 with an app for watching Netflix streaming movies, as well as T-Mobile TV for watching live television programs.

This model runs Windows Phone 7 on a 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. It has 16 GB of built-in storage for holding music, video, and other files.

Microsoft's new operating system has little in common with its predecessors. It has been redesigned to appeal more to consumers, and works with Microsoft's Zune music service, as well as the Xbox Live gaming service. Still, it has features that business users want, such as Microsoft Office Mobile and support for synchronizing with Microsoft Exchange.

Of course, the HTC HD7 supports T-Mobile's 3G network (7.2 Mbps downloads/2 Mbps uploads), but it doesn't support this carrier's new HSDPA+ service, which is even faster. In addition, the HD7 includes Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1, and an A-GPS receiver.

A 5-megapixel camera with dual LED flash and 720p HD video capture is also included.
