Verizon will soon be the third U.S. wireless carrier to offer a version of the LG Optimus One, an entry-level smartphone running Google's Android OS. This device, re-branded as the LG Vortex, is set to debut on Thursday.
The Vortex has been created for those buying their first smartphone, and will include 3.2-inch, HVGA touchscreen in a tablet shape.
It will run Android OS 2.2. Like all models running the latest version of Google's mobile operating system, it will come with a suite of communication and entertainment software, including a very capable web browser.
This LG model is going to offer support for Verizon's 3G network, as well as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. It will be able to share its Internet connection with other computers over Wi-Fi.
The Optimus One will have a 3.2 megapixel auto-focus camera, GPS receiver, and a 1500 mAh battery.
Pricing & Availability
The LG Vortex will cost $80 with a new two-year customer agreement and after a $100 mail-in rebate.
It will be available in Verizon Wireless stores and at verizonwireless.com on Nov. 18.
