Android OS, iPhone, iPad Users Now Able to Directly Edit Google Docs

Users of devices based on the Android OS and iOS have been able to view the documents and spreadsheets stored in Google Docs for some time. Starting today, smartphone and tablet users can edit these files.

Google Docs is a free online service for working with Microsoft Office files. However, only desktop users could do online editing.

Google has now updated its service so that all models running Android OS 2.2, as well as the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad (iOS 3.0 or higher) can make edits in their default web browsers.

Still, users should be aware that editing tools are minimal at present, basically limited to changing the text.

Google Docs was created to be a collaboration tool, and mobile users are able to edit files at the same time as their co-workers, whether they are using a smartphone or a desktop.
