4 GB Microdrives available Nov. 20th
On November 20th Hitachi will be officially offering their new 4 GB Microdrive for sale at a retail price of $490. A microdrive is a hard disk drive in a CompactFlash Type 2 form-factor, that can be plugged into any CompactFlash equipped handheld or camera. Though significantly cheaper than flash memory of equivalent size, microdrives use much more power than a normal memory card. Slightly sooner, around the 19th, Hitachi will be offering their 2 GB microdrive, which will run MSRP $340. I'm not sure how well the latter is going to fly, since there are already 2.2 GB microdrives available for under $250 street price.
Patch for iPaq 5450 with WM2003
It seems that HP releases more updates and bug patches for the iPaqs than any other manufacturer does for their line. I wonder if that's a good thing or a bad thing. Today the target is the Bluetooth drivers on the iPaq 5450/5455 that have been upgraded to Windows Mobile 2003. The update fixes a number of lockup issues.
